Our volunteers respond to the state’s call for assistance in hurricane cleanup on public lands.

At the Take Pride in Florida kickoff, Suncoast Chapter members join Mark Warren of the USDA Forest Service, NPS Director Fran Mainella, Florida DEP Secretary Colleen Castille, FTA president Eileen Wyand, and Michelle Mitchell, FNST Manager in celebrating the FTA’s pledge of volunteerism on public lands. On Oct 23, 2004, volunteers of the Florida Trail Association pledged 60,000 hours of work to Take Pride in Florida, an effort to reopen public lands to recreation statewide. Our volunteers continue to clear hurricane damage so you can enjoy your favorite hiking trails! Members turned out for the event, held at Honeymoon Island State Park, to show their support of the Florida Trail.
