Effective Date        07/27/06Recently the Ocala National Forest completed a Recreation Improvement Management Project which resulted in major changes to the existing designated recreation sites in the Forest. What follows are the changes applied to camp areas along or near the Florida Trail. Clearwater Lake, Alexander Springs, Juniper Springs and Salt Springs – no changes.

Buck Lake has been changed to a primitive group-use site available year-round for camping by reservation-only. A new gate near 595 blocks access to the area. Hikers on the trail may access Buck Lake Group Campground to obtain water but may not camp in the area. Reservations for camping may be made by calling Reserve America at least 10 days in advance.
Farles Prairie will be open for camping from 1 week prior to general gun season to April 15. It will be designated for day use only April 15 – one week prior to the General Gun Season which is normally in early November. No camping is permitted April 15 – 1 week prior to general gun season.
Hopkins Prairie will be open for camping October 1 – June 1. When the campground is closed no camping, parking or water will be available.
Delancy East (Delancy West is the ATV camp) will be open for camping October 1 – June 1. When the campground is closed no camping or parking will be available. The well at Delancy East will continue to be available for water.
Lake Eaton will be open for camping October 1 – June 1. When the campground is closed no camping, parking or water will be available.
Fore Lake will be open year round.
