F-Troop Rides Again!
Get hot, wet, and dirty on the Florida Trail with our volunteer trail crew program, F-Troop. Show off your personal expertise with power tools, or learn how to wield a gas-powered drill, set footers and stringers, use rigging to lift heavy boards across ravines, build the perfect bridge deck, and more. It’s hands-on training in trail building techniques that benefits the public by providing needed infrastructure along the Florida Trail while teaching participants skills they can take home to their local trails and parks.
Membership requirements and administrative fees are waived for accredited members of the media who want to join a crew for hands-on experience, and all media are welcome to shadow work crews for interviews and photographs. It’s a volunteer vacation for some, a training session for others, and results in a job well done.
To register, send in an application or email publications@floridatrail.org. Please specify your media affiliation and/or outlets. B-roll and stock photos are available. For more background, see our F-Troop web page.
