Kicco F-Troop!

F-Troop, Trail Crews

This is yet another exciting opportunity to join us for a weekend of bridge building fun! We are heading down to the Kicco WMA to replace the existing Tick Island Slough bridge. The old bridge is severely twisted ( see images below ) and we will be replacing it with one much like the Monkey Creek Bridge, only shorter. The 60 ft. free spanning bridge is made of a light-weight fiber glass composite material. It is basically a kit that comes precut and predrilled. The pieces are designed so that they can be carried into remote locations.Fortunately, we won’t have to go to far to bring the materials in. The near-by forest road will get thngs pretty close to the bridge site. We will utilize skills taught at the rigging workshop on Friday morning to put this bridge together. Two trusses will be assembled then hoisted over the river with a higline setup then put into place.

If you would like to see this process there are many photos of the Monkey Creek project on this site and also a YouTube video link.

The Kicco area is very beautiful, and we are able to camp right there at the worksite. We will be joined by Jim Hernandez and other members of the Heartland chapter. If you would like more information please contact either Bob Woods or myself, and we hope to see ya there!
