On May 16, firefighters successfully extended burnout operations about 1.6 miles between the Strickland Fire and the community of Sanctuary to remove fuels and check the wildfire’s slow advance. Big Cypress fire update

I-75 (Alligator Alley) remains closed across Big Cypress. There are two major fires burning near the Interstate, Midrest and Trail. By their names and location as shown on GeoMac, a darn good chance they are affecting the route of the FT. No official details received yet.
