Description
The Florida Trail running parallel to the Kissimmee River on the SFWMD Right of Way between Okee Tantie Park and Structure S65E will be closed due to structure repairs and the construction of a tail water weir directly below S65E.

Hikers coming up the east side of Okeechobee should exit the dike at Parrott Ave (US 441). Hikers coming up the west side of Lake Okeechobee should go past the north-bound trail and continue east around the lake 3.6 miles to Parrott Ave (US 441). From that point all hikers should go north on US 441 approximately 9 miles to SR 70/US 98. Turn west on SR 70 and follow it 8 miles to CR 599 where hikers can resume the old trail.

We are actively searching for a better route around the S65E structure. If a better route is uncovered we will issue a new Notice.

Repair work will continue through the summer and should be completed by September.
